When you don’t workout, you lack health benefits”.”

How many of us are guilty of skipping the gym or simply not motivated to get up and get your workout on? Now there is a study that states if not then you are hurting yourself and could be worse than smoking cigarettes. There was a study done  in a journal from Jama Network Open, “states that there were testing done at the Cleveland Clinic with 122,007 patients and the years the testing was done would be 1991-2014”.   The way they were tested, they put them on treadmills and monitored the results and the results showed up that when you workout you live longer and healthier.

With the studies are trying to show that being unfit on the treadmill or even being a diabetic would be more harmful than smoking cigarettes because you are not getting your heart rate up to keep it from falling. It is being encouraged  by the medical staff, that the best thing you can do for yourself is at least workout a couple days a week to get the heart rate up and moving around. And its really that simply the more you exercise the lower their mortality rates, states “Dr. Wael Jaber”.

I do believe that the proper care and not working out could be harmful because the muscles that you are not making are just sitting still and our made to move around. Even if its just about 30mintues a day it is a great think to do for your health. Either before or after work which ever it can fit in your schedule but it is important to try for yourself and see if it could help your health overall.

  1. I agree with you. It is interesting that they compare not working out to smoking because smoking is harmful chemicals going into your body. You could eat healthy and not workout and in my own opinion I feel like you would be healthier because you are not ingesting chemicals. However studies may have proven different like you stated in this blog. This was very informative and I learned something new. Thank you for sharing!

  2. I would have to say that none of the information contained in this article or post is of much surprise to me. I was surprised to hear that a sedentary lifestyle can actually be more harmful than smoking cigarettes. I quit smoking a few years ago but I will definitely have to start doing more cardio after having read your post. Thank You Ayesha!

  3. As a former exercise science major, I was told by my professors that working out even if it’s a short work out is better than not working out at all. And I agree we should take proper care of our bodies and not working in the long run ends being harmful for us. But I also understand that some people don’t have time or are just embarrassed or scared to step into a gym. But like you said people should go and try it out and then make the assessment for them self’s.
